The Shimmy Seminar is a four week intensive burlesque workshop intended for those new to burlesque, regardless of dance level. The Shimmy Seminar teaches burlesque history, costuming basics, glove and stocking peels, chair and floor work, use of props, pastie making, tassel twirling, clothing removal and the art of the tease, as well as choreography assistance for a solo number and a recital (optional) at the end of the four week course.
This course is intended as a starting point for those interested in performing burlesque and is a great place to learn the basics before taking more advanced and specialized classes through the Raleigh School of Burlesque.
Taught by 18 year burlesque veteran Rachel Riot and world champion ballroom dancer Cherry Cha Cha.

PLEASE NOTE:
Once registered (with paid deposit or paid in full) you are locked into the month you registered for. If you for some reason decide to switch to another session there will be a $50 “change fee”. We encourage zero absences, but understand life gets in the way. Each student will have one allowed absence. If a student misses 2 or more classes, they will be moved to the next session and charged the $50 change fee.
