Service Description

The Raleigh School of Burlesque invites you to our monthly Free Community Movie Night, held on the last Sunday of every month, where we gather to watch, discuss, and celebrate burlesque history, culture, and artistry. Our February selection is Black Girl Magic Burlesque, a powerful documentary following the only all-Black burlesque show in Las Vegas, led by producer Eurika Pratts. Filmed at the LaMarre Theater, the documentary offers an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the lives of the performers, centering Black femme artistry, resilience, and creative power. Through interviews and performance footage, the film explores themes of reclamation, visibility, and joy while challenging traditional narratives within the entertainment industry. The show features meaningful tributes to historical Black figures, including Josephine Baker and the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, weaving history, sensuality, and cultural pride into burlesque performance. This event is part of the Raleigh School of Burlesque’s ongoing commitment to education, community building, and accessible arts programming. Movie Night is free and open to the public, with limited seating to maintain an intimate and comfortable environment.
