Sunday, October 25, 2026 6:00–9:00 PM Cell Block #9 – Raleigh, NC FREE Community Event – Pre-registration Required Join us for another cozy, community-centered FREE Burlesque Movie Night at Cell Block #9! Since it’s October, we’re adding a little murder and mystery to our burlesque. This month we’re watching Lady of Burlesque (1943), starring the legendary Barbara Stanwyck. Based on the novel The G-String Murders by real-life burlesque performer and author Gypsy Rose Lee, the movie combines backstage burlesque, comedy, music, romance, and a murder mystery. Stanwyck stars as Dixie Daisy, a performer working in a burlesque theater where backstage rivalries and romances are suddenly overshadowed by something much more sinister: someone is killing members of the company. The performers find themselves caught in the middle of a murder investigation while still trying to put on a show. Beyond being a fun vintage mystery, Lady of Burlesque gives us a Hollywood interpretation of the backstage world of 1940s burlesque — made especially interesting by its connection to Gypsy Rose Lee and her firsthand experience as one of the era’s most famous performers. Whether you’re a burlesque performer or student, love vintage movies, enjoy a good murder mystery, or are simply burlesque-curious, you’re welcome to join us. Movie Night is casual and cozy, so bring something to work on while we watch! Rhinestone a costume, sew, knit, sketch, work on a craft, catch up on admin or homework, or bring absolutely nothing and just curl up and enjoy the movie. Come comfy! Pajamas are always welcome. Popcorn is provided. Feel free to bring your own snacks and beverages — alcoholic or non-alcoholic. The space is also 420 friendly. Cell Block #9 is a private residential studio near NC State. The exact address will be provided after registration.

Cancellation Policy
To cancel or reschedule please contact us at least 24 hours before the first class. Minimums & Maximums: Each class has a required minimum and maximum number of students. Minimums are set to ensure instructors are fairly compensated. If a class does not meet minimum enrollment, it may be canceled and all registered students will be notified. No-Shows: Students who do not attend class (no-shows) forfeit their payment. Payments are not refunded or credited. Refunds: We do not provide refunds for any reason. Transfers: Transfers may be offered only with a valid doctor’s note. Without proper documentation, transfers are not permitted. Final Note: Please treat your registration as a commitment to yourself, your classmates, and your instructors. No refunds, no exceptions.
