Service Description

Faking Flexibility is a 90-minute movement workshop with Celeste LaVie, a long-retired cheerleader and gymnast who freely admits she has not kept up with her stretching—and has instead learned how to fake it. Using the art of illusion, strategic angles, body positioning, and subtle movement adjustments, Celeste will show you how to create the appearance of longer lines, deeper stretches, dramatic poses, and greater flexibility without forcing your body into positions it doesn’t want to be in. This class is especially great for performers who are less limber, getting older, working with limited mobility, returning to movement after time away, or simply wondering, “How the hell did they make their leg look like that?” Students will explore: • Using angles and body positioning to create the illusion of flexibility • Finding flattering lines without forcing a stretch • Modifying movements to work with your individual body • Creating dramatic poses that photograph beautifully • Small adjustments that can make movements look bigger and more impressive • Incorporating “fake flexibility” into burlesque choreography and stage movement • Protecting your body while still looking fabulous, sexy, and bendy as hell This is not a stretching or flexibility-training class. Instead, it’s about working with the body you have right now and learning a few theatrical tricks to make the audience see exactly what you want them to see. Because sometimes the secret isn’t learning how to bend—it’s learning how to sell the angle. About Celeste LaVie Celeste LaVie is here to prove that in burlesque, c’est la vie. You get what you get, and she’s giving it all! Celeste has been performing in various capacities for approximately 25 years and has spent the last two years diving into the world of burlesque. A graduate of Salomé Cabaret Burlesque Academy, she blends classic glamour with neo-burlesque boldness, strong musicality, and a cheeky sense of humor. An active member of her local performance communities, Celeste performs in some capacity at least once a month and has also produced two successful queer variety shows featuring drag, burlesque, and stand-up comedy. Sexy, a little wild, and full of surprises—such is life, and you’ll be living every minute of it!
