Body Talk is a movement-based workshop with visiting Portland performer Deidre Knight that explores the connections between breath, body, and imagination. Through guided exercises and movement techniques, you’ll learn how to conjure story, character, and internal dialogue—and use them to create a deeper connection with your audience. Tap into the soul of your movement as you explore organic movement, authentic expression, and the ways your body can communicate before you ever say a word. Whether you’re developing a new act, looking to bring more depth to an existing performance, or simply interested in exploring storytelling through movement, Body Talk will give you new tools to bring intention and emotional connection to the stage. About Deidre Knight All the way from Portland, guest performer Deidre Knight illuminates the stage with captivating vignettes that traverse passionate themes of magic, mystery, and unbridled sexuality. A dangerous cocktail of Shakespearean elegance and showgirl scandal, her performances are brimming with ferocious sensuality and intoxicating allure. She’s a Bay Area Dime with a grind like a Gold Mine—the Smoking Gun of Burlesque, Deidre Knight. Location This workshop takes place at Cell Block #9, a private home studio near NCSU off Western Boulevard in Raleigh. The exact address will be provided upon registration.
