Join flow artist and burlesque performer Lady Gatita for a beginner-friendly introduction to veil fans—a mesmerizing blend of dance, movement, prop manipulation, and visual storytelling. With their flowing silk tails and sweeping movements, veil fans create stunning shapes, dramatic visuals, and an unforgettable stage presence. Drawing from her extensive experience in both flow arts and burlesque, Lady Gatita will guide students through the fundamentals of veil fan technique. You’ll learn proper hand holds, fan control, the concept of planes, opening and closing techniques, and different ways to move the fans through space to create beautiful visual effects. Students will also explore foundational combinations and movement patterns designed to help build confidence and fluidity with the prop. Veil fans are a wonderful addition to burlesque acts, character performances, belly dance, cosplay, flow arts, and theatrical productions. They can be used to create mystery, elegance, drama, and movement unlike almost any other stage prop. This class is designed for beginners, and no prior experience is necessary. Students must bring their own veil fans. Because every fan is weighted and constructed differently, it is strongly recommended that you learn and practice with the same fans you plan to use in future performances. Space is limited to 10 participants to allow for personalized instruction and individual feedback. Whether you’re looking to expand your performance toolkit, try something new, or simply spend an afternoon learning a beautiful movement art, this workshop will give you the skills and confidence to step Beyond the Veil. Limited to 10 participants • Pre-registration required.
