Have an act that needs polishing? An idea you’ve been wanting to bring to life? Or are you ready to create your very first burlesque act?
Stage Ready! is a three-session act development series designed to help you take an act from idea to stage—or give an existing act the focused attention it needs to become stronger, cleaner, and more intentional.
You’ll work closely with Dahlia Vee over three consecutive sessions, receiving individualized mentorship, feedback, and guidance throughout the act-development process. With only TWO spots available, this is an opportunity for focused, personalized instruction tailored to your act, your experience level, and your goals.
Three Sessions. Your Schedule.
Stage Ready! includes a total of three consecutive sessions, scheduled directly with you by Raleigh Burlesque. You’ll help choose the days and times that work best for your schedule.
Sessions can be held live via Zoom or in person at Cell Block #9, a private home studio near NCSU in Raleigh, NC. The exact address will be provided upon registration.
What You'll Work On
Whether you're starting from scratch or polishing an act you've already performed, Dahlia will help you dig into the elements that make a burlesque act work. Depending on your individual act and goals, your sessions may include:
Mapping your music and identifying key moments
Creating and refining choreography
Developing the structure, pacing, and overall arc of your act
Building stronger transitions and reveals
Exploring musicality, character, facial expressions, and stage presence
Learning techniques for tease and intentional clothing removal
Incorporating costume pieces into your choreography
Working on specialty skills including glove and stocking peels and feather fan technique
Receiving direct, individualized feedback and making purposeful revisions
Bringing all the pieces together into a performance-ready act
At the end of the series, you'll also have the opportunity to put your work onstage and perform in the Raleigh School of Burlesque Recital on November 12!
Meet Dahlia Vee
Dahlia Vee has been performing burlesque since 2011. While she is especially known today for her classic burlesque performances, she began her career as a neo-horrorlesque artist and has performed in just about every genre of burlesque you can imagine.
Her specialties include classic tease, glove and stocking peels, feather fans, and the art of clothing removal—skills developed through more than a decade of performing and studying the craft.
Dahlia is also an accomplished improvisational performer and has earned multiple awards, including NC Master of Improv, along with wins in several other burlesque improv competitions.
As a mentor and instructor, Dahlia is direct, clear, practical, and refreshingly candid. She won't leave you wondering what you should work on next. Her feedback is specific and actionable, helping you understand what's working, identify what could be stronger, and make choices that serve both your act and your individual performance style.
